TinyTimbers
About us
I’m Uke Collins. For the past 22 years, I’ve had the joy of running my Playgroup and Parent & Baby groups in Melville. Now, as I move to Parkhurst, I’m excited to begin a new chapter — offering a brand new extramural called
TinyTimbers.
Together with my colleague , Proud Ngubane, a talented carpenter, we’ll be guiding children through the wonderful world of woodwork.
Our programme includes 2 different age groups:
TimberTots (3–5 years): A gentle introduction to tools, starting with plastic tools and golf pegs, progressing to real mini tools and wood as confidence grows. Each class begins with fun songs and actions to teach safety rules in an engaging way.
(8–10 children per class, depending on skill level)
Timbers (5–7 years): Children in this group work with real mini tools
. Classes start with tool safety, identifying tools and their uses, and other interactive activities that make learning hands-on and fun.
We will be working on long-term projects with our older Timbers.
Classes run for 45 minutes and let’s not forget the coolest part of being a builder…we get to wear helmets and tool-belts!!

If your school is interested in offering this unique new extramural, please get in touch — we’d love to arrange a demo class!
Alternatively you can visit us at our TinyTimbers workshop in Parkhurst and come and have some fun!
